Maximizing everyone’s community participation and personal achievement.

A people-centered approach

Work Leads To Independence (WLI) is made up of several different components, working as one comprehensive coordinated system delivering services to people with disabilities throughout Northwest Ohio. We have been in business since the early 70's and just recently became a fully independent provider of services. WLI has always prided ourselves on providing quality services with meaningful results to each and every individual we serve.

Although COVID-19 changed the way we work, we are still committed to providing the best possible service to all of the individuals we work with. Furthermore, WLI has taken a proactive stance on dealing with the continued pandemic by enacting a number of safety measure including increased sanitization, remote services, and social distancing.

Community Integration

Having access to the community is a critical part of leading a happy and fulfilled life, which is why WLI offers a variety of different opportunities to help each individual do just that! Through our Community Integration program, Direct Support Professionals will help everyone get connected with the activities in their community!

Non-Medical Transportation

We offer Non-Medical Transportation because we know that many of the people we serve need to have access to reliable transportation to work and community integration activities. Our door to door service empowers people to have full access to a fulfilling life.

Pre-Employment Transition Services

Figuring out what to do after high school is one of the toughest decisions we have to make in our lives. Fortunately, WLI offers Pre-Employment Transitions Services (Pre-ETS), which gives students the tools to make informed decisions about their future.

Career Services

Finding and keeping a job can be extremely challenging if you’re doing it all by yourself, doubly so if you don’t know what you want to do. This is why WLI offers a number of career services designed to help individuals find their passions and turn them into jobs they can keep.

Summer Youth

Summer Youth is a summer program designed for high school students that are looking to transfer into employment after graduation. Summer Youth will have participants working a community job under the close supervision of one of our highly trained Job Coaches.
